What is the difference between CBD oil and HEMP oil

    CBD oil…Hemp seed oil…Hemp oil…Cannabis oil…confused already?

Its easy to see why with so many similar sounding products. Don’t worry we are going to explain all the differences so you know exactly what to look for and what benefits each product contains.

When researching CBD oil many years ago all I found was confusing advice and websites claiming to tell you what is the difference between CBD oil and Hemp oil. The information was unclear, super technical and left me none the wiser. I hope to shed some light on this topic for you and help you understand.

What is the difference between CBD oil and HEMP oil

Lets start with the obvious confusing part, the name.

A lot of companies now refer to CBD Oil as Hemp Oil for regulation purposes and FDA purposes as some countries, states and websites despite its numerous successful tests and widespread acknowledgment that it is safe won’t allow the sale of CBD Oil (the vast majority allow it but check with your states laws). This is where the confusion came in, as there was already a product on the market called Hemp oil. This had to find itself a new name as its current name had been hijacked. It is now more commonly referred to as Hemp ‘seed’ oil.

    CBD oil —> Hemp oil

Hemp oil —> Hemp seed oil

Another tip for distinguishing between the two is the ingredients, CBD oil even if called hemp oil will usually say something on the label like CBD, Hemp Extract, Cannabinoid, Phytocannabinoid and PCR Hemp extract. Whereas Hemp seed oil will be listed as cannabis sativa seed oil.

Most CBD oils will also give you a percentage/ratio of cbd within the bottles.

What are the benefits of each product?

The main benefits of CBD oil are to boost our endocannabinoid system to support and maintain the balance of our internal health. If you are unaware and want to know more then those benefits are explained in much more detail HERE

The main uses of Hemp seed oil range from skin care due to its omega 3/6 essential fatty acids and vitamin E content to being used as a cooking additive.

CBD oil as you can imagine has a higher market value than Hemp seed oil so beware of companies marketing trying to fool you. Follow the advice above and you should be able to spot who’s being honest and who’s trying to pull the wool over your eyes.

    Where do they come from?

Well CBD oil comes from the mature parts of the plant such as the stalk and flowers, Hemp seed oil comes solely from the seeds.

CBD oil is extracted from the plant using ethanol or co2, this is particularly effective as it doesn’t use toxic compounds to extract the oil. Hemp seed oil comes from cold pressing the seeds and then de-shelling, chilling and then squeezing them using toxic compounds such as propane, hexane, BHO and hydrocarbons.
